Cyril Green (1941–), musician, elder, and community leader, was born at Walcha, New South Wales on 13 January 1941. He moved to Sydney to become Jimmy Little’s guitarist in the Jimmy Little Trio in the 1960s, and later returned to Armidale to raise his young family with his wife Hazel. They had five children: Tony, Kevin, Marlene, Cyril, and David. Despite living in Armidale, Cyril continued to perform with Little for the next four decades. In 2005 he was awarded the Red Ochre award from the Australia Council for his service to the Aboriginal community as a musician and for being a member of the first Aboriginal band to hold a commercial recording contract. A respected elder and leader in his community, he raised funds for charities, hospitals, and the elderly. In 2020, with his son Tony, grandson Antony and great-grandson Antwone, he released Inheritance, an album featuring four generations of Indigenous musicians.
